RRB Section Controller Exam Pattern
The CBT is one paper of 100 questions. Every question carries 1 mark, so the number of questions and the marks are the same for each section. If the exam is held in more than one shift, the marks are normalised.
| Section | Questions | Marks | What it has |
|---|---|---|---|
| Analytical and Mathematical Capability | 60 | 60 | Maths and data analysis |
| Logical Capability | 20 | 20 | Logical reasoning and reading comprehension |
| Mental Reasoning | 20 | 20 | Analogy, series, coding-decoding, ranking and arrangements |
| Total | 100 | 100 | 120 minutes |

Tips for the Exam
- I suggest you to start maths from the basics like number system, percentage, ratio and average, so that other chapters like profit and loss or time and work become easy.
- Solve 2 to 3 table, graph and pie chart sets daily so that you get speed, because these questions are the biggest part of the exam.
- For passages, read the first and last line of each paragraph to get the main idea, then read the questions and find the answers in the passage.
- Draw a small chart for blood relations, family tree, ranking and arrangement questions so it will be easy to solve.
- Mental reasoning and logical reasoning are small small topics so solve some questions daily so it will be in practice.
- After finishing a topic, solve mixed sets of 20 questions from different topics, because the real exam does not come chapter wise.
- Learn tables up to 20, squares up to 30 and common percentage values like 1/8 = 12.5% and 1/6 = 16.67% so that you save a lot of time.
- Make one sheet for all formulas and shortcuts and revise it every week so that you dont forget them.
- I suggest you to give mock tests which will show you your real progress and where you stand.
- The pattern can change with a notice, so keep checking the official website.
